In order to sign up for services with Canvas Host through Customer Support, We will ask you to provide complete contact and billing information, including your name, billing address, email address, phone number, and credit card information.
All personal information collected through Customer Support is securely stored. Billing information is encrypted by the Web server for security and only accessed by authorized Canvas Host staff members.
Regarding Our Use of Collected Personal Data
All collected personal information is used to facilitate managing and billing your account, contacting you regarding your account or services you have purchased from Us, and providing customer service and or technical support to you regarding services you have purchased from Us.
Canvas Host may from time to time send out notifications from Our Customer Support service regarding upcoming technical maintenance windows that could affect your service. In such a case, We will notify you by email using the email address on file for you.
Canvas Host also sends out periodic email newsletters (called “Latest Patch”) with updates about the company or service lines. We only send this newsletter to you if you checked the Opt-In Newsletter box in your account profile at the time you signed up for service with us.
Regarding The Protection Of Your Personal Data
Canvas Host limits access to your personal information to authorized employees and representatives. We do not share any personal information about you with any third party or affiliated company, unless We have contacted you directly to ask your permission and you have granted Us that permission.
The only cases in which We will disclose personal information about you would be if We are required or compelled to do so by a court order, legal process, subpoena, or criminal investigation, or if We feel We must take action due to suspected illegal activities, violation of Our policies, fraud, or any other situations where We must comply with the law.

You may log into the Customer Support system at any time and change all contact and billing information stored on your account, as well as modify your preference of receiving Our email newsletter.
Regarding The Storage And Destruction Of Personal Data
If you are no longer a customer of Canvas Host and wish to have your contact information removed, upon request we will delete all personal, contact, and billing information from Our Customer Support system.
Regarding Our Promise To Protect Your Personal Data
Canvas Host respects your right to privacy and wants you to know that We will do everything to protect your personal information. All information about you is stored on Web servers at Our secure Portland, Oregon data facility, which is physically secured by biometric and passkey checkpoints. Our Web servers are monitored by 24/7 video surveillance and locked in secure rackmounts to further prevent physical access by unauthorized parties. The network providing service to the Web servers utilizes state of the art firewall and brute force detection to prevent unauthorized access from any source inside or outside of the network. We restrict all access to your information to only those authorized members of Our staff and agents and only for the purpose of supporting your service needs.
We do not, however warrant or guarantee that your personal information will be protected against unauthorized access or loss, and We do not accept liability for the security of any information you have provided Us.
Regarding General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Effective as of May 25, 2018, GDPR is a set of rules governing the protection of personal information about residents of the European Union (EU), and applies to all businesses and organizations that process or store personal data (PD) about EU residents and citizens. As a global provider of web services, Canvas Host is subject to GDPR regulations. In the scope of GDPR, Canvas Host is both a “Data Controller” (an entity that determines how PD is processed) and “Data Processor” (a system that processes PD).
You have several rights protected by privacy and data protection laws that relate to the information and data that We process about you. Requesting changes is free of charge, and We will do Our utmost to respond to your request within 30 days. We will honor your requests as much as the law allows, though there may be some situations in which We are required by law, or legal and contractual reasons, why We cannot address your request in the specific detail as you have submitted. That said, We will do Our best. In accordance with GDPR, you may:
- Request access to the personal data We store and process about you
- Request that We correct incomplete or inaccurate personal data about you
- Request deletion of personal data We store about you
- Request certain restrictions on Our processing of some or all personal data about you

If you are protected by GPDR, and are a customer of Canvas Host, We are authorized with lawful basis to process and store PD about you:

By signing up for service, you have expressed interest in Our services and given Us consent to store and process your personal information.
“Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.”
In order to provide and uphold the service contracts you have entered into with Canvas Host, We must use your personal and billing information in the course of processing invoices and communicating with you about the services you receive from Us. This includes third-party billing services, such as Authorize.net and PayPal.
Canvas Host does not contract with any third-party data processor in the course of storing and making backups of your hosting account data.
On May 24, 2018, our founding owner, David Anderson, was appointed the Data Protection Officer (DPO). He administers the company’s policies regarding GDPR compliance, and related processes that are designed to ensure the safety of your PD.
